good day.
its been 12 days into 2008. as much as i would like to believe that this year is going to be so ideal and amazing i am now going to eat my words because it will NOT be. 7 months before uni, on the average, we'll have all the girls working and working and the boys stuck in army. let alone we're all living in this boring country with nothing to do.. srysly mundane. any groups of people keen on going to vietnam/ phuket or anywhere near to backpack on low budgets? we could go together in may/june after earning money. anyone at all. im desperate for something to do, so lets do a little get-away for fun(and something called a LIFE)'s sake.
okay cook just called me for a good half an hour antagonizing over my uk application, trying 1 million usernames and pws cos i forgot mine, even forgot the answers to my personal question, left him quite exasperated haha. on another random note, my brother went to school yesterday forgetting his shoes until he reached the doorstep of SJI. haha thats only possible cos he only wears his shoes in the car. its quite hiliarious because dad had to drive all the way back to tanah merah to get. . . school shoes.. they both burst out laughing in the car so i've heard. something from the tong family you see.
as sad as the year seems in the long run, i had an AWESOME week.
1) CGH A & E department 1 week attachment, 2 overnight shifts 11-8am, 2 daytime walk around hospital and very long Q & A over kopi at housemen canteen. Dr Tiah is the warmest, humble, genuine and most kind doctor i've met, and i've met quite a few in fact.. i'm really thankful to fel (nana) for this rare chance that she included me in.
overnight shifts are like wow. up close and personal experiences, st john was like a theoretical version of what i saw. skull fractures, lots of blood, fit, deaths, resuscitations, 6/7 different stiches, incubation, mICU/sICU, alcohol intox, car accidents and jumping down from building. SEEING is a different thing from hearing it. healthcare workers are the most sacrificial people ever, whats with the long, irregular hours plus low pay. all of them were like: DONT BE DOCTOR YOU'LL REGRET, all were funny and helpful and friendly. except for some bitchy ex-RJ medical officer who probably look down on VJ.
2) in between attachment, meeting pearl thursday night over shepard's pie at siglap. 16 of the squad on monday for farewell dinner, wenbin on tuesday and wednesday before he enlisted on thurs.. it was a really good 2 day because its been a while since i've seen him.. but he should be fitting in well by now whats with saying BMT is routine and boring haha.
3) giving tuition in potong pasir on friday/ saturday. thereafter headed down to chinatown for both nights.. ate and ate. mango sago, piggy porky's pig soup, pumpkin cake and silken beancurd with peanut balls =) did quite abit of shopping for cheap costume jewellery im going to handmake.. treasure trove for vintages also.. can pick and choose your own bling bling somemore, so so happy.
4) telemarketers are cheaters. so's a shop called diageo at the airport. 10/hr is a hoax. settled for CGH job till march. Boring, but will tahan till march. pretty for my resume too. many thanks to street smart dennis who went job hunting with me, i almost got cheated quite a few times.

dennis the menace shirt, really appropriate :)

to more days like these..
